About Services
Why is a Professional Hearing Aid Fitting Important?
Hearing aids are sophisticated devices that require careful adjustment to match your unique hearing loss and lifestyle needs. A professional fitting ensures that your hearing aids are:
- Programmed correctly: Our audiologists will program your hearing aids based on your individual hearing test results, ensuring the appropriate amplification levels for different sounds and environments.
- Physically comfortable: We'll make sure your hearing aids fit snugly and comfortably in your ears, minimizing discomfort or irritation.
- Optimized for your lifestyle: We'll consider your specific listening environments and communication needs to fine-tune the settings for optimal performance.
- Providing clear sound quality: We use real-ear measurements to verify that the hearing aids are delivering the intended sound levels to your eardrum.

- Real-ear measurements: We'll use a tiny probe microphone to measure the sound levels in your ear canal, ensuring accurate programming.
- User guidance and support: We'll provide detailed instructions on how to use and care for your hearing aids, including insertion, removal, cleaning, and battery changes.
- Follow-up appointments: We'll schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your progress, make any necessary adjustments, and address any questions or concerns you may have.
Fittings for Used Hearing Aids
At Novasound, we understand that hearing aids can be a significant investment. That’s why we offer fitting services for used hearing aids, provided they meet the following criteria:
- Transferable: The hearing aids must be transferable to another user by the manufacturer.
- Age: The hearing aids must be under 5 years old.
- Style: The hearing aids must be a Receiver-in-Canal (RIC) or Behind-the-Ear (BTE) style. We don’t transfer In-the-Ear (ITE) hearing aids.
- Functionality: The hearing aids must pass electronic specification testing (ANSI testing). This testing can be performed by our clinic for a fee of $80.
- Hearing Test: Clients must have a recent hearing test (within 6 months). A hearing test can be completed by our clinic for a fee of $100.

Ongoing Care for Your Hearing Health
We believe that ongoing care is essential for long-term hearing health and optimal hearing aid performance.
Regular Check-ups
We recommend scheduling follow-up appointments every 6 to 12 months for hearing tests and hearing aid adjustments. This allows us to monitor your hearing, fine-tune your devices, and address any concerns you may have.
Adjustments & Reprogram
As your hearing changes over time, we can make adjustments to your hearing aids to ensure they continue to meet your needs. We may recommend Real Ear Measurement (REM) verification to reprogram your devices.
Programming Fees
For patients who do not have a service plan or whose plan has expired, the programming appointment fee is $200 per hearing aid. This includes real-ear measurement (REM) verification and two follow-up visits.
